HOME SUPPORT TEAM UPDATE

Well you've heard from the folks on the front lines tell their story. Well back at Headquarters, in Mississauga we have a different job helping Kevin and Jeff unfold their epic story to the world.

At The Boomerang Group, myself (Freddy Carlberg, long time friend of Jeff) along with Ashley Kirk have designed this site for everyone to experience and participate in all aspects of Jeff and Kevin's Coast-to-Coast journey. This website is monitored minute by minute by Ashley, with updates, comments, video and now even auction bids updated constantly. Going into this we had no idea this would be a full time job, we figured a few minutes a day would do it, but with a strong PR campaign, amazing daily updates from the boys and an outpouring of heartfelt comments and support from everyone out there, its hard to keep up and tune-out.

Then there's Ira Kargel, and Ian Maclean at Gears Bike Shop keeping the engine running strong and ensuring everything is in place for Phase II of the fundraising efforts- the third annual 24-Hour Spin on February 22/23. Laura Poce is in constant communications with local and national media to get the word out about the extraordinary events that are unfolding on the backroads of southern USA. Meanwhile, Diane Rushton at home in Missisauga, provides us with daily updates of money that has been sent from all over North America bringing our total to more than $100,000!!

We can't overlook the financial assistance and support provided by Mark Bonham which has enabled the Coast-to-Coast team to accomplish this endeavour.

I think I can speak for all of us enduring the cold Canadian climate and say, that the effort, committment and dedication displayed by Jeff Rushton and Kevin Wallace will warm the hearts of many this month, awaken our spirits, and make us challenge ourselves, on a daily basis, to be better people, to love and care for one another more than ever before.

Freddy, staying in touch with Jeff to coordinate any special needs, (but more worried about having to cycle up with the boys the last stretch of the trip).

Ashley Kirk at Boomerang "on call" every minute, keeping this site running like a well tunned bike. Jeff and Kevin may have saddle sores, but our job is physically demanding as well, check-out Ashleys Carpel-tunnel bandage!
