Doug Barr - 20/09/39-15/10/98
submitted by Cindy Marcuz
Doug was born and raised in a tiny village called
Glasgow Station, Ontario. He and his parents worked building highways.
While passing through the small town of Gananoque he met and fell
in love with Pat Warren.
After they married, he stayed on in Gananoque to build a life
with his new wife and eventually four children.
Doug was a hard working man. He did heavy factory work for fourty
years, unselfishly taking only one week in November for himself
to go deer hunting with his uncles and aunts where he grew up.
One of the most difficult things he had to endure was the loss
of his father, brother and sister. Also the diagnosis of his son
in law with cancer.
Unexpectetly in July of 1998, he himself was diagnosed with cancer.
He watched his Jerry, his son in law fight cancer for many years,
and he was going to fight too. And fight he did, but the cancer
was just too srong. Doug passed away peacefully on October 15,
1998 with his wife of thirty nine years at his side.
Doug, who was known as DJ to many people loved the CB radio -
his daughter Julie loved the CB radio.
Doug loved to hunt and fish - his daughter Julie loved to hunt
and fish.
Doug loved to drive and 18 wheeler truck - his daughter Julie
loves to drive an 18 wheeler truck.
Doug loved to help people - his daughter Julie loves to help people
and that is why she is driving the support truck for the 2003
COAST TO COAST RIDE.
Doug will live on in the faces of his children
and grandchildren.
IN YOUR REFLECTION, HE LIVES IN YOU
