Hazel Davis Abrahamson was 62 when she died of colon cancer in 1982. For six months she was misdiagnosed with a hiatel hernia and was in an out of hospitals. When the tumor on her colon finally burst, they knew it was cancer. The night after she received her first chemotherapy, she slipped into a coma. Her system was too weak from months of pain and she couldn't fight the bacteria that spread through her system when the tumor burst.
We transferred her to a teaching hospital in Boston, and they were able to bring her out of her coma. She lived another week and a half. She succumbed to the complications when her kidneys failed. She was much loved and still very much missed by her husband, George, son, Jerry, and daughter, Carlene Dillon.
