Joan Holden
submitted by Nick HoldenJoan Holden age 57, married, 4 kids 1
son 3 girls.
Joan Holden was a kind and loving lady who spent
all her time focused on her
family and also the children that she taught in her school in
England.
She came to visit the US in October for an extended stay to help
my sister who had recently had a baby. After falling down one
day she was diagnosed with un differentiated carcinoma that was
advanced. Although the doctors quietly told us that there was
little chance she would recover, she bravely decided to undergo
aggressive chemotherapy. She wanted so badly to fight and live,
she was in her mid 50s. Inspite of many odds including insurance
company calls to her bedside during chemotherapy she was just
too far
advanced for any treatments and in January she passed away (less
than 4 months). You never really get over the passing of anyone
that you care for, especially under these circumstances. She was
a brave woman, strong, fought until the very last, always worried
about her family more than herself. I could write for a very long
time about the character of this lady, my mother. If God gave
me one wish it would be that someone was able to defeat this terrible
disease NOW. In the meantime, thanks Jeff and everyone on the
coast to coast for continuing to strive to raise the money to
bring about a cure and helping those impacted beat the disease
and live well.
The Holden Family.
