Name: Jordan Moxam Age: 11
Location (City, State/Province): Waterdown, ON
Type of Cancer: Hodgkin LymphomaThe Story (Diagnosis, treatment,
follow-up etc):
Last August our lives were changed forever. Jordan has undergone
4 months of chemo and 17 days of radiation. He was declared in
remission Jan 2003. At his 3 month check up end of March, it seemed
the cancer was not gone. He has since undergone another 3 rounds
and now awaits his last chemo at Sick Kids with stem cell rescue
end of June.
This season of our lives has been a learning
tool. We have all grown as people, and Jordan has grown up far
too quickly for an eleven year old boy. We have come to realize
what is really important in life and how many good friends and
caring people there are out there. Jordans favourite memory
would be our trip to Give Kids the World in February thru Help
a Child Smile. It was, we thought at the end of our treatment,
and a much needed pick me up. It was a time of heaven on earth
for our family we will never forget. Amazing people doing things
for kids that dont deserve the hand they have been dealt.
The amount of support from friends around us has been an inspiration
that carries us through each day. Jordan continued to play hockey
through out the first four months of chemo and with an amazing
group of kids and parents on our team, had an amazing hockey season,
Jordan was goalie.
Unfortunately he had his port (under the skin) changed to a cooke
port (tubes coming out of his chest) in May that has restricted
his activity for his love of the sport lacrosse. He hasnt
been able to play and its been tough sitting out and only watching.
Jordan plays lots of video games (game boy
and ps2) and we watch many movies he still enjoys road
hockey and mini sticks in the house!
