Name: Rachael Kerr Age:73
Toronto, ON
Type of Cancer:Lung and Brain
My mother was diagnosed with lung cancer 15
years after she stopped smoking. When she was diagnosed with this
horrific disease she handled this news with poise, dignity and
grace. Over a 4 year period when attending Dr's appointments,
she would often forget she had lung cancer because unlike so many
we ( it became my disease) where lucky. After being in remission
for 4 years it came back with a vengeance and metastasized in
her brain. Four months later she passed away quietly with her
children by her side
Highlights: (Memorable moments, turning points,
favorite memories) Near
the end of her life as the brain tumor enlarged this little sweet
old lady
would often say the most inappropriate things. One night with
a very
devilish look in her eyes she asked me if I liked sex, upon my
answer she
said my father really liked it! That was too much info for me.
Lowlights: (Moments of courage, digging deep
within) Having to tell my
mother the tumour had returned. Saying "good bye".
