Valerie Yvonne Willard (nee Woodward)
April 27, 1920 - November 15, 1970
submitted by Shirley Rushton (daughter)

Valerie was born in England and served in World War II. She came to Canada following the war as a war bride, married to Irving Willard. Valerie was the mother of seven children. She was very involved in the Boy Scouts of Canada as a cub leader along with her husband. She loved to garden and was greatly devoted to her family.

Valerie was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1965 at which time she had a mastectomy followed by radiation treatments. At the time of her death she had been undergoing further tests which later revealed that she had cancer in virtually every major organ of her body. She was killed in a car accident in November of 1970 during a weekend absence from the hospital. Valerie is greatly missed by her family.
