I was reading Jamie's diary entries at work and it
made me feel inspired and envious at the same time.
What an amazing life experience...to test your limits
physically and emotionally, all in the name of helping
children across Canada realize their dreams. Your progress
amazes me. For my part, I've been sending messages into
the cosmos for pampering winds and sunshine. Maybe a
plate of those oh-so-decadent brownies upon your return?

I think its great that you are riding for cancer,
but I am sick of the term "Coast to Coast" from Vancouver
to Halifax. It insinuates it is the entire country and
as we know coast to coast (across Canada) includes Newfoundland
and Labrador. Why is the ride not ending in St. John's..
then it would be coast to coast

Hi C2C Gang, just a small quote for the day. "We
are here to add what we can to life, not to get what
we can from it." One day away from home. You must all
be so excited to travel into Mississauga tommorrow.
The weather ahead looks clear and sunny not too hot.
Love the team photo. The support team is doing a bang
up job. My many thanks to Ron, Dr.Pat and Lon, Eric
and Mitch for making it easier for me to sleep at night.
I know that are being well cared for. Love you all Diane
(hope to catch up with you tommorrow. Bike is getting
tuned up at Gears so I will be able to fly).

Just want to wish you well and thank all of you for
what you are doing. You are all amazing!! My sister
found out last September that she had breast cancer.
She has recently had surgery to remove one of her breasts.
Thanks to you and the new treatments that are available
today, you most likely had a part in saving her life.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Keep up the good
work!!

It had been a quiet night at the local bar so far,
but then the door was thrown open and an Interstate
highway strode in. "I'm an Inter-state highway," he
declared. "I stretch from coast to coast and have at
least four lanes, shoulders, and a median almost my
entire length. I have the highest speed limit of any
highway. I'm best of the highways, and I'm afraid of
no highway and no road." He then strode up to the bar,
ordered a beer, and began drinking it, while looking
around. A short time later, a four lane highway came
in, went to the end of the bar, and ordered a beer.
The Interstate looked him over and walked over to him.
"I'm an Interstate highway," he declared. "I stretch
from coast to coast and have at least four lanes, shoulders,
and a median almost my entire length. I have the highest
speed limit of any highway. I'm the best of the highways,
and I'm not afraid of you." The four lane highway said
"I agree that you're the best. I don't want any trouble
with you. Let me buy you a beer", and he did. They drank
their beers and discussed their engineering specifications.
After a half hour, the door opened again and a two lane
road came in, went to the other end of the bar, and
ordered a beer. The Interstate looked him over and told
the four lane highway that he had to take care of the
new arrival. He walked over to the two lane road and
said "I'm and Interstate highway. I stretch from coast
to coast and have atleast four lanes, shoulders, and
a median almost my entire length. I have the highest
speed limit of any highway. I'm the best of the highways,
and I'm not afraid of you." The two lane road quivered
a bit and said " You're absolutely right. You are the
best of the highways. I'm just a lowly two lane road.
I don't want any trouble. Can I buy beers for you and
the four lane highway?" The Interstate motioned the
four lane highway to come over, the two lane road bought
beers for each of them, and the three of them drank
their beers and discussed the merits of various paving
material. After another half hour, the door opened again
and a strip of asphalt about eight feet wide came in.
The Interstate highway ducked behind the bar and hid
there quivering quietly. The bartender was shocked.
After serving the asphalt strip, he walked over to where
the Interstate was hiding. "I watched you stand up to
the four lane highway and the two lane road. You said
you weren't afraid of any highway or road. Why are you
hiding from that little asphalt strip?" The Interstate
replied quietly, "It's true that I'm not afraid of any
highway or road, but he's a cycle path." Too homour
or not too homour?!!!! Good nite gang!!!

Your efforts are commendable "to a point"..as a 62
yr. old surviving cancer patient and an avid cyclist
I am amazed as are other cancer patients in Newfoundland...it's
really unfortunate that your group didn't see fit to
do Cape Breton Island and take the ferry crossing to
Port-aux-Basques Nfld. and "finish the journey"...to
St. John's Nfld. (mile 1)..Unfortunately the joke going
around is that all the cyclists must be from Ontario
and can't handle Cape Breton or Nfld...not my thoughts
"but" in hindsight it would have been nice to have called
your tour "Cross Canada"..Take up the challenge and
finish the journey...

spent a year in Canada in 2000 and sadly saw a friend
succumb to cancer. I watch this now with great interest
from here in Australia. I absolutely love Canada as

some borrowed words.... Hope is that single ingredient
which allows us to look forward to tomorrow and the
positive opportunities it will bring. Hope sets big
goals and is not frustrated by difficulties or setbacks.
Hope is that extra push that gives us the ability to
carry on with our plans even when we feel discouraged
or doubtful. Hope pushes ahead when it would be easy
to quit. Hope discovers what can be done instead of
grumbling about what cannot. Hope "lights a candle"
instead of cursing the darkness. Hope realizes that
the longest journey starts with one step. You guys are
giving hope to so many. Gotta love the way you choose

Kevin, Jeff, Mitch and the entire C2C team, there

Dear Jamie, Your Mom, Sal and your Sis, Kim walk
and talk even taller now, knowing your 'genes' are in
their 'pool.' I am a survivor, (given a 5-20% chance
of that, at the time)and it's directly as a result of
the research, that 'gutsy' guys like you and those before
you, spending your time and energy, and most of all
'heart,' to raise awareness and funds to support cancer
research. I have to admit I became a little 'choked'
as I read the comments and the support from around the
world. My thoughts are with you ... the "Dirty Half
Dozen' of solid muscle and heart. T'will be something
to tell your Grandkids, that you 'pedalled your asses,
across Canada.' Know that a grateful one is with you
and what you are doing. What you are doing, directly
affected my life. With luck, will see you on the Lakeshore

Knowing that there are people in this world like
you fine cyclists showing total humbleness, and dedication

My brother Mitch Kennedy is one the cyclists and I could
not be more proud! Knowing that he is on route to fight

in our family, but in every family and in every race,
culture, and nationality! Cancer does not have a culture
bias and as people we can help fight the disease by
modeling the passion and drive that this team has to
offer. My Grandpa Robert Kennedy, and Grandpa Alan Trout
passed away with cancer and I know if the knowledge
that we have now could have been used 10-13 years ago
the pain, and suffering shorter and longivity of life
would not have been so hard on my Grandfathers. My Grandma
Bunny Trout is a breast cancer survivor and I know along
with reseach, but her attitude had a large part of her
recovery as well! She has always been optomistic and
a positive person and being in the right frame of mind
is more times then none half the battle! Knowledge is
power and in this case power is reseach to fight against
this disease that has taken so many loved ones from
us. I truly feel that our loved ones are phisically
absent but they will never leave our hearts, minds,
and souls, and they are glowing with pride and gratitude
towards all dedications and suport, and esspecially
this beautiful team that exemplifies true love for what
all life has to offer. Thank you coast to coast team
you have touched so many lives and I am so greatful!
God Bless Love, Trish Kennedey p.s. Mitch I love you
very much and as your little sister I look up to you
now more then I ever have before! Be safe

Me again...Just wanted to say that you have all given
inspiration to those with cancer and those who have
lost someone to cancer. I am very fortunate to know
Carol Journeaux, whom I love and respect. She was diagnosed
7 years ago with lung cancer and had a lung removed.
It was a rough go in the beginning but she is doing
well today. She has a fantastic attitude, a great family,
and friends that love her ENDLESSLY. She overcame her
cancer and you guys are an inspiration for all others
with cancer, you give them hope. This ride also gives
pride to all that has lost someone to cancer. There
are no words to describe how much you guys mean to the
WORLD right now, this is such a wonderful cause you
are riding for. Again, YOUR ALL AMAZING. GO TEAM GO!!!

hi jamie and freddie and fellow riders: We are amazed
at how much you have accomplished. It seems like you
just started and it looks like you are almost half way
across. We looked at your pictures and you look like
you can use a nap. Is that you freddie getting a massage
in the front of the RV? Is that safe? Keep up the good
work. Steve says someone at work saw your ride on tv.

Hey Guys, Keep up the great work - this ride is truly
inspirational. If/When you get tired, tuck yourself
in behind KW's thighs...with that kind of draft you
won't have to pedal until maritimes!! Keep on rollin'

PATRICKwe were thinking about you and the other Dad's
on Father's Day yesterday. We feel fortunate that we
have a Dad like you involved in LIFE and full of LOVE
and Mom tells us that some of the lessons of what you
are doing out there on the road may not even seem clear
to us for years. We are SOOOOOOO proud of you and we
are tracking the yellow ball on the map to see where
you are. We are wondering if you are singing to the
other guys in between cooking? We are counting the hours
until we can cheer you on in either Burlington or Mississauga
(or both!) The group of you are inspirational and awesome.
Ride on!!
