Name: Mrs. Lynda Martel (sister of Fujitsu Consulting employee Michel Martel) Age: 48

Location(City, State/Province): St. Antoine de Tilly, Que. Canada

Type of Cancer: Breast Cancer

The Story (Diagnosis, treatment, follow-up etc): Diagnosed 8 years ago, Lynda endured surgery, three rounds of Chemo and one experimental treatment. She passed away in January 2003.

Highlights: (Memorable moments, turning points, favourite memories)

Memorable Moments: High hopes after her first treatment, she was in remission for 4 years.

She had the opportunity to visit France during her remission. She also came to visit us in Seattle twice even after a relapse that the doctors called terminal. She prove them wrong and she stayed in remission for an other two years until the cancer attacked her greatest strength, her brain.

Her friends, husband and children have supported her during this incredible ordeal in an admirable way giving an example of the power of love.

Lowlights: (Moments of courage, digging deep within)

She spent the last 230 days of her life in an hospice for terminaly ill patients where typically people stay an average of 10 days. She didn’t give up and she stayed with her family as long as she was able to. She taught us remarkable courage and persistence.

Current Status: (if applicable - ie. Years in Remission)

She passed away in January 2003
