Sandra Bausmer
submitted by Phil & Barb Thompson, Curtis & Alicia Bausmer
Sandra was our 30 year old daughter. Married
to Curtis for 8 years and had finished studies graduating with
a B.A. Not long after delivering a wonderful daughter, Alicia,
she began her battle with breast cancer. This lasted for a total
of 2 years. Initially she had a mastectomy and chemotherapy. One
year later she developed signs again of cancer. This was confirmed
and the prognosis was not good. More chemotherapy did not arrest
the disease and she succumbed on March 15th 2001. Our son, her
brother was to be married in the summer so they brought the ceremony
forward and actually I officiated at the service which was held
in Sandra's house the evening before she died. She was quite conscious,
but tired.
Curtis and Alicia are presently living with
us. Curtis has graduated and is now looking for a teaching job
in physics/math here in Waterloo.
We have accepted the events and the loss though,
of course, questions remain. Why do people with great potential
and high integrity have to go this way? Only the good Lord knows.
One day we shall see her again. Until then her memory and her
impact on all our lives is very precious.
We trust that your ride will be successful in
raising funds for the research into a cure for Cancer.
